BrightPay provides reporting features that can help you gather the data needed for gender pay gap analysis, but it does not currently offer a fully automated, built-in monthly gender pay gap analytics tool.
Here’s how you can set up and streamline monthly gender pay gap analytics with BrightPay:
Set Up Gender Data in Employee Records
- Ensure that all employees have their gender correctly recorded in BrightPay. This is essential for accurate reporting.
- - Go to each employee’s profile and check/update the gender field.
Create a Custom Gender Pay Gap Report
BrightPay allows you to create custom reports that include pay and gender data:
- Navigate to the **Reports** section in BrightPay.
- Create a new report or edit an existing one to include the following fields:
- Employee Name/ID
- Gender
- Gross Pay (or relevant pay elements)
- Department/Job Title (if you want to analyse by role or department)
- Save this report template for future use.
Export the Report Monthly
- Each month, run the saved gender pay gap report.
- Export the data as a CSV or Excel file.
Automate Analytics – can now be done outside of BrightPay
Important Notes
- While BrightPay streamlines the data collection and export, the actual analytics and automation of calculations will need to be handled outside of BrightPay.
- For official gender pay gap reporting (required for employers with 250+ employees), you must follow the UK government’s methodology. More information is available here
Note: Only two gender options are available in BrightPay: Male and Female. This is because BrightPay follows HMRC reporting requirements. Other gender options are not available in the software, as HMRC will not accept them on payroll submissions.
